On Tuesday, February 2 of Catholic Schools Week 2021, we celebrate Students.

The teachers planned some fun STEAM projects for kids to do on-line and face to face.

PRESCHOOL ACTIVITY

Preschool is learning about penguins and where they live.
We made snow in a cup!

PRESCHOOL ACTIVITY

We watched a mystery science about tall building and had three teams try to build the tallest building.
The wooden block team was the winner!

THIRD GRADE ACTIVITY

In honor of Catholic Schools week, the third grade participated in a marshmallow and toothpick engineering STEAM activity. The students used marshmallows and toothpicks to build the tallest freestanding structure. They used problem solving and critical thinking skills to complete the project. Way to go, third graders!

FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADES ACTIVITY - VR 3D PUZZLES

This STEAM activity combines Math, Technology, and Architecture into a Virtual Reality Puzzle experience. Students worked with an Oculus VR system to think in 3D while fitting pieces into puzzles with increased complexity. See the three videos below!

SIXTH GRADE ACTIVITY

Room 213 designed and made their own paper airplanes to see whose could go the furthest for Catholic Schools Week.

EIGHTH GRADE ACTIVITY

We split the class up into groups and carried out an activity that involved identifying the number of specific shapes or angles in a particular image, e.g how many triangles can you see in this image, etc. Students were given a countdown down clock by the end of which they had to provide an answer. We spent most of a period on this activity and they seemed to enjoy it. It was more challenging than they initially thought it would be.
