As a class we have been discussing how clouds collect water like a sponge; and when the cloud cannot hold any more moisture the cloud will burst, and it will rain down.

The water cycle shows the continuous movement of water within the Earth and atmosphere. It is a complex system that includes many different processes. Liquid water evaporates into water vapor, condenses to form clouds, and precipitates back to earth in the form of rain and snow.

In our experiment, students took turns manipulating the dropper to collect and dispel the blue water on top of their cloud. Teacher added a few saturated drops of blue food coloring as well. The cloud collected moisture from the water in the cup and collected moisture from above. Students observed and had meaningful small group discussions about their discoveries. The clouds eventually could not hold any more moisture and it rained down.

All students worked collaboratively within their small groups to record the data they collected through observation. All students reported their data finding, writing out discoveries and illustrating their discoveries.
